Obituary

Bobby Dean Waggoner, age 93, passed away September 8, 2025, in Leawood, KS. Bobby was born on March 9, 1932, to Elsie (Icenogle) and Andrew Waggoner inOsawatomie, Kansas. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1950. While inhigh school, he worked in a butcher shop, was involved in theater and several sports, and held office in Student Council. He continued to be a hard worker his whole life.

On July 28, 1949, Bobby married the love of his life, Patsha Platt. They would spend 72 years together until Patsha's passing in 2021. Bobby spent most of his working career in the railroad industry. He was enrolled in a Technical Training Service for a regular car builder apprenticeship with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Osawatomie. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for twenty years. After that, he moved to the private railroad sector and held various managerial positions. This career would take Bobby and his family to many cities in Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado. While living in Sterling, Colorado, Bobby was proud to hold the position of President of the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He retired on April 1, 1997, while living in Omaha.

After retirement, Bobby and Patsha spent many years traveling in their RV to see family and friends while exploring sites from coast to coast. Bobby loved playing golf, tailgating at Chiefs games, and most of all, being with his family and friends. He is remembered by his family as a calm and quiet presence at gatherings. He was full of knowledge about sports, pop stars, current events, and many other topics. He always made sure that everyone was taken care of and provided for.

Bobby is survived by his sons Michael Kevin Waggoner, and his wife, Roxanne of Randolph, KS and Brian Dean Waggoner and wife Darlene of Longmont, CO; 3 grandchildren, Rachel Kulbiski (Neil), Michael Waggoner (Roya), and Katrina Siegman (Michael); 8 great-grandchildren, Noah Kulbiski, Eli Kulbiski, Jonah Waggoner, Ava Waggoner, Olivia Waggoner, Andrew Siegman, Ryan Siegman, and Clayton Siegman. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Andrew Waggoner; his wife, Patsha, daughter, Teresa Renee Waggoner; his granddaughter, Michelle Waggoner; his siblings, Lloyd Waggoner, Andrew Waggoner, Arthur Waggoner, George Waggoner, Paul Waggoner, Raymond "Shorty" Waggoner, Pauline Sawyer, Juanita Wilson, Maxine Idol, and Delores Walton.

A celebration of life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS. Reception following immediately at the Paola Country Club in Paola, KS.
