Obituary

Blanche Marie (Long) Schmeltz, born September 17, 1945, passed peacefully in her home on July 30, 2023. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she received her angel wings. Blanche was a lifelong Kansas resident. She attended Rosedale High School and then graduated with a teaching degree from Emporia State University. She was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church in Mission. She worked as a teacher, a homemaker, and later as an office manager at SB&B/DR&G. Her true legacy was as a dear friend and a dedicated, loving Mother and Grandmother. Blanche had 2 girls with her first husband, Richard Mall, and another 2 girls and 2 boys with her second husband, Stephen Schmeltz. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Blanche Long, sisters Sharon Long/Buchanan and Diane Long, and her beloved partner John Ryan. She is survived by her brother Ronald Long, 6 children: Julie Mall/DeMilt (Stephen), Jill Mall, Erin Schmeltz/Huddleston (Eric), Jason Schmeltz (Wendy), Megan Schmeltz/Decker (Jason), and Mark Schmeltz (Oubon); 12 grandchildren: Mason, Makayla, Darius, Morgan, Brianna, Katie, Daphne, Vinny, Gwyneth, Bridget, Wesley, and Josie; and 2 great granddaughters: Chloe and Leia. In accordance with her wishes, Blanche will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 11, 2023, from 5-8pm at the Village Presbyterian Church in Mission. Enter via Mission Road coming from 63rd. Tomahawk is closed.
