Nov 17, 1936 — May 10, 2025
Blanch Stephens, born on November 17, 1936, in Paola, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in KCK at the age of 88. After a courageous battle with cancer, she left us surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
A devoted homemaker and stay-at-home mom to her seven children, Blanch dedicated her life to nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. Her heart and home were always open, creating a haven filled with laughter, support, and endless love.
Blanch interests were a testament to her zest for life. She cherished family outings and dining out, always eager to explore new places with her beloved daughters and grandkids. Her frequent trips to the casino with them became cherished memories, filled with fun and camaraderie. A proud Kansas City Chiefs fan, Blanch never missed a game. Her family and friends knew better than to call during game time—unless it was halftime or after the final whistle!
Preceded in death by her parents, Pierce Medlin and Edith Opal Medlin, and her siblings, Bob Medlin, June Medlin, Manuel Medlin, Walt Medlin, Nadine Feris-Medlin, Darlene Medlin, Benny Medlin, and Jerry Medlin, Blanch is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
She is survived by her loving children: Shelia Milikan, Wesley George, Loretta Kneebone, Sherri Swanson, Christina Stephens, Rita Rose, and Laura Pistorius Wright, along with her 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Blanch will be remembered as a loving mother, grandma, and friend who touched the lives of many. Her favorite endearment, calling her grandkids "little stinkers," will forever echo in the hearts of her family. Her profound love for her family, strong faith in God and caring spirit made her a beacon of love and strength.
Services for Blanch are yet to be determined. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
