Billie Orletha Beam, 75, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, on November 1, 2017, in Mission, KS. Billie was born in Mulberry, KS, to Richard and Madora Thompson, the third of three children. She graduated from Mulberry High School in 1959, completing her junior and senior years in one year and graduated with her childhood best friend, Peggy Beam (née Sayre). The two of them then married their high school sweethearts that summer, who were brothers. A homemaker most of her life, Billie was one of the hardest-working people anyone had ever known. After their two sons left the nest, she started managing various apartment complexes, including managing properties in Colorado Springs, Divide, and Denver, CO, and in Kansas City, MO. She even earned Leasing Agent of the Year honors in her time managing a large apartment complex in Kansas City, MO. Never one to sit still, Billie loved to travel and keep herself busy worrying about her family and friends. She was fiercely loyal to all those she loved. Billie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her still devoted and loving husband of 58 years, Larry ("Herb") Beam; two sons, Bill and Joe (Gabrielle) Beam; two long-awaited and treasured grandchildren, Jackson and Sadie Beam; a brother, Richard (Janet) Thompson; a sister, Colleen (John) Nepote; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a multitude of dear friends. There will be no public memorial; rather, her life will be honored in a private celebration of life with close friends and family. Special thanks to the staff of St. Luke's Home Care & Hospice.
