Beverly A. Gilpin (Betz), passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 2, 2017 at Villa St. Francis. Beverly was born November 2, 1932 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She retired from the Kansas City, Kansas school district as a food service manager of the Central kitchen after more than 25 years. She enjoyed bowling, volleyball and dancing. One of her favorite pastimes was what she referred as " going to the boats" to play the slots. She was a very devoted mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was a hands on grandma that loved attending the grandchildren's sporting events and school functions. She is survived by her children, Steve (Shelia) Farmer, St. Joseph, Debbie (Dan) Bukaty, Olathe, Linda (Dave) Rader, Shawnee and Jim W. Gilpin; her brother Francis Betz, Rhode Island, sister-in-law Shirley Betz, St Joseph; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Elizabeth Betz, sister Billie Jean Davis and brother Herbert Betz. The family thanks Crossroads Hospice staff for all their special care and Villa St. Francis staff. Per Beverly's wishes, she was cremated with no memorial service. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date and they suggest donations be made to The American Heart or American Lung Associations.
