Dr. Betty Hall, 92, of Lenexa, Kansas died peacefully surrounded by family on July 17, 2015 following complications with a stroke. She was born to the late Basil and Flora Woodring, January 8, 1923, in Wichita, Kansas. Betty graduated from Wichita North High School, attended Wichita Business College and KU. In 1943 she married Charles W. Hall. After seeing him through college, medical school and having five boys, they divorced in 1963. Her proudest accomplishments were raising her sons while managing a four unit apartment house, working part time and going back to school at UMKC where she received her BA, her MA and in 1976, her PhD in Counseling Psychology. She then worked as a school counselor for the Shawnee Mission School District retiring at age 70. Betty enjoyed current events, politics, canoeing, backpacking, teaching tennis, traveling, movies, reading, lectures and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a past member of All Souls Unitarian Church and a current member of the Shawnee Mission Unitarian Church. She considered herself a Humanist. As a lifelong Democrat, she never shied from an argument, was an independent thinker, outspoken feminist and early supporter of the ERA. She was a member of the Older Women's League, Women's Spirituality, Fracklan Lodge, numerous discussion groups and the Ozark Wilderness Waterways Club. She is survived by her sons Daniel C. Hall of Seattle, WA, Gregory A. Hall of Shawnee, KS, Patrick C. Hall of San Jose, CA, Conan L. Hall of Alburn, KS, three daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Dr. Kendal W. Hall who died in 1981, her sister, Marie (Woodring) Miller, and a brother, Lyle Woodring. The family wishes to thank the entire community of Lakeview Village: maintance, kitchen, administrators and numerous caregivers for all their years of support and care.
