Betty J. Rentschler, (BJ) 65 was promoted from this earth into heaven on November 22, 2010 11:09p. m. at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will be held in BJ's honor at the Olathe Club of the Deaf 225 South Chestnut Olathe, Kansas on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at noon. Donations in lieu of flowers are appreciated. Any donations that exceed final expenses will be donated to the Kansas School of the Deaf in BJ's honor. BJ was born June 11, 1945 in ElDorado, Kansas. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas who attended the Kansas School for the Deaf. She loved crafting, was a talented artist, loved Clydesdale horses and all things Southwest. She was quite the bowler, enjoyed water sports, and loved playing cards and Olingo at the Olathe Club of the Deaf. She especially loved her family most of all. BJ was blessed to be born to Vivian Geraldine (Typer) Lock and raised byVelma Ruth (Typer) Spalding, two beautiful sisters. BJ was preceeded in death by her birth mother Vivian Geraldine Lock, step-father Hubert Spalding and her great grandson Mason Lavoi Harnden. She is survived by her mother Velma Ruth Spalding, siblings David Farmer, Sandra Sutton, Janice Pound, Mark Spalding, Marilyn Boyd, Barbara Jordan, Danny Abbott, Michelle Klaproth Lori Mosley and Bill Lock, children Lori Colwell and Rick Rentschler (Yvonne), granchildren Nyia Colwell, Aimee Harnden(Daniel), Wesley Colwell, Brittany Colwell, Halie Ratliff, Holly Ratliff and Koda Rentschler and many nieces, nephews and cousins who were blessed to learn her beautiful sign language.
