Betty Jean Cockburn (Osborn) passed away peacefully on May 23, 2021. Born in Kansas City in 1949, she was the first child of Edwin S. and Ruth G. Osborn, and leaves behind her brother, Robert (Bob) Osborn, and sister, Ruth Ann Newby. She is also survived by her daughter Leigh Ann and son-in-law Troy, and twin granddaughters Kelly and Karyn. Also in her heart, she leaves behind her step-daughter Christy, a niece and three nephews. Betty retired from Hallmark, where she was affectionately known by many as simply "BC". She loved Kansas City and enjoyed spending time at Crown Center, exploring First Fridays in the Crossroads Arts District, strolling through Union Station, and sampling the cuisine at local eateries. For over 15 years, she trekked to Arkansas for the War Eagle craft shows to shop till she dropped with four days of crafts, food, and time with both family and friends. Over the years, her inner artisan was inspired and she designed jewelry, collected baskets, and was by no stretch of the imagination the expert on all things leopard print. She had many experiences including the trip of a lifetime to Japan, a NASCAR ride along at speeds reaching 160 miles per hour at the Texas Motor Speedway, a night at the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge with her granddaughters, and an all-night run at the Caribbean Stud Poker table in Las Vegas with her daughter. By far, her favorite activity was time spent socializing, shopping, and enjoying a good meal with friends. She spoke often about her amazing circle of friends, many of whom she had known since high school. Service Betty did not want a funeral, but instead insisted that we remember her as she was in life.
