Bettie Jo Moore, 89, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away October 3, 2013 at Carriage Square Health Care Center. She was born February 25, 1924 in Ravenwood, Missouri, daughter of Fay and Burnetta Henson. She graduated from Maryville High School in 1942 and from Northwest Missouri State College in 1968. She grew up in Maryville and Ravenwood and spent most of her adult life and raised her family in King City, Missouri. She was employed with the St. Joseph State Hospital for 25 years as a psychiatric social worker, retiring in 1988. During those years she was instrumental in developing the aftercare component of the mental health continuum and was actively involved in the development of regulations which required nursing homes to provide activities and social programming for residents. She is survived by her children; Ann (Bob) Howe of King City, David (Debbie) Moore of Story City, Iowa and Sarah McGinley of Gladstone, MO. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her spouse, Max Moore and one grandchild. A Celebration of Bettie's life will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, MO at Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in King City, Missouri.
