Bennie Alyn Wynn, age 65, passed away peacefully at home October 8, 2022 due to metastatic esophageal cancer. He was born October 6, 1957 in Kansas City. Bennie loved aviation and throughout his life became an exceptional aviation mechanic. He trained in the Army to be an aviation mechanic and graduated in 1989 from Maple Woods Community College with an Associate of Arts as an aircraft and powerplant mechanic. Bennie worked 29 years as a mechanic for TWA, Air Midwest and American Airlines, retiring in 2020. He was beloved by his coworkers as an expert mechanic, especially the MD83 series aircraft. Bennie was universally recognized as an exceptional leader in the field of aviation maintenance. He was widely known in his neighborhood of Roeland Park, KS as a kindly gentleman who loved all of the neighborhood dogs. Bennie is preceded in death by father, Glenn Howard Wynn, mother Noma Ann Metcalf, and stepmother Elisabeth Adler. He is survived by his son Erik Wynn, sister Kathy Hansen (Jack) of Oak Grove, MO. Brother Craig Wynn (Katie) of Olympia, WA and stepsisters Mary Vaughan (David) of Lawrence, KS and Chris Leuty of Kansas City, MO as well as 6 nephews and 4 nieces. Service Memorial service will be October 22, 2022 at Cross Creek Baptist Mission 1050 SW 15th St, Oak Grove, MO. Doors open at 1:30 PM, service at 2:30 PM. Also a military service will be held at Leavenworth Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS on October 24,2022 at 2:30 PM.
