Barbara Jean Hoyt, 58 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away at home on April 1, 2013 after a courageous 19 month battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by close friends and family. Barbara was born to Moroni and Betty Hoyt on May 30, 1954 in Independence Missouri where she was raised with five siblings. She graduated from Willliam Chrisman High School in 1972 and from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1975. From the late 1970's until 2011, Barb ran private practices in Buckner, Missouri and subsequently the Westport area of Kansas City. Her patients brought her much fulfillment and joy. Outside of work, Barb's passions included classical music and opera, good food and wine, traveling with her life partner and the company of her many friends. Barb never knew a stranger; she loved to engage people in intellectual banter and enjoyed making every person feel like the most special person on earth. She could be seen up until 2 weeks before her death walking her beloved dog, Freddie. Anyone who knew Barb will remember her amazing wit, contagious laugh and boundless love of life and people. A hug from Barb was a common gift and request. Barbara is survived by her mother Betty Mae Hoyt, siblings Deborah Lawson, Jeffrey Hoyt, Ashley Hoyt and Gayle Griffin; nieces Angelena, Gayle and Abi Graybill, Laura, Amanda and Casey Hoyt; nephews Jeffrey Hoyt, Ron and Ben Youngs ; godchildren Blake and Devon Nespica and her life partner of 16 years, Tamera Murdock.
