Barbara R. Brown, 84, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2016. She had been residing at Pinnacle Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Barbara was born January 3, 1933 in Greenup, Kentucky, daughter of Elmer and Mollie Cochenour. She married Fred E. Brown on January 27, 1951. Barbara was primarily a mother and homemaker, although she worked in retail sales and as an accountant for the American Red Cross. Fred and Barbara relocated from Bayville, New York to Olathe, Kansas in 1993. Barbara was a strong willed, independent woman, who loved animals, particularly cats. She assisted a local animal rescue group by fostering cats. During her last year of life, she was a vital member of the Pinnacle Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation resident community, where she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Press, Paola, Kansas, son and daughter-in-law Gary Brown and Stephanie Cosby, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Barbara will be reunited with Fred when her ashes are scattered in a tropical location.
