August Anthony (Tony) Chapp, 88, a long-time resident of Shawnee, KS, died July 3. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Tony graduated from Michigan State University and earned a master's degree in radio and television broadcasting from Northwestern University. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. He moved to Kansas City, MO, to work as a radio announcer at station WDAF, soon working in television. He later worked for other local TV and radio stations, including Ray-Eye Production' "Builders Showcase" and hosted "Teen Hop", a TV music show. After leaving the private sector, he worked for public television, then taking a civilian position as an audio-visual specialist at Ft. Leavenworth. He was an active member of All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Kansas City, MO, and participated in many programs, including church archives, performing with the Coach House Players theater group and a men's group. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, sons Steven Chapp (Lora Sager) and Jeffrey Chapp (Belena Skievaski), daughter Kacey Zucchino (David Zucchino), and four grandchildren (Dylan Chapp, Adrien Scott, Emily Zucchino and Natalie Zucchino). A Memorial service will be held at 4:00pm, with reception immediately following, on Sunday, Aug. 1 at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 4501 Walnut St. , Kansas City, MO.
