Ardythe Marie Bradshaw, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peaceably in the presence of family on Saturday March 13, 2021, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas of complications from her 2nd Covid vaccine shot as well as other ongoing health issues. She was born January 8, 1937 to the union of Levi and Hazel Bradshaw in Larned, Kansas. There she also accepted Christ and was baptized as a child in the family church. Ardythe attended the Larned Public School system but was best known for her exceptional skills playing classical piano. Her artistic talent was seen early by her father, a farmer and teacher, who bought her a piano and began lessons for her at age five. As a child protégé' in the 1940's, young Ardythe Marie was requested to play professional classical piano concerts in numerous churches as well as to audiences of all kinds across the racially segregated Central Kansas. In 1952, she married William Miles Brown and relocated to the Kansas City area. To that marriage six children were born. The marriage ended in divorce. Ardythe also experienced a very impressive career with the Federal Government. First employed at the Money Order Center, then she worked for decades at the Social Security Administration in downtown Kansas City where she retired at just fifty-years of age. She also pursued several college classes and management training programs. After retirement, Ardythe began her new careers as a consignment shop owner and a sales representative for Hall's Department Store. She was always known for her sharp wit, style, and fashion, even in her later years. As the years passed her health became more of a challenge which eventually resulted in her requiring assisted living and personal medical care during retirement. But even in that challenging environment she possessed such a great attitude, sense of fashion, and lively personality so much so that she was given the nickname "Lady Bradshaw. " The medical staff agreed that she "lived longer than predicted" and was "stronger than expected. " Ardythe was encouraging to her elderly peer group, telling them to "hold on" and keep reaching for one's dreams and desires even in later years. Ardythe Bradshaw will be known for her warmth to strangers, classical piano, and pride in the exceptional accomplishments of all six of her children. Ms Bradshaw was a past member of Allen Chapel AME Church, but did also proclaim that her most recent church attendance was a truly spirit filled experience which took place during her visit to Swope Parkway Church of Christ.
