Obituary

Anita Greening, born on January 29, 1955, in Monroe City, MO, peacefully passed away on June 9, 2024, in Olathe, KS, at the age of 69 due to natural causes.

Anita dedicated her life to serving others as an ordained minister and hospital chaplain, spreading love and comfort to those in need. Her work was a true testament to her compassionate and caring nature, touching the lives of many with her words of wisdom and kindness.

A lifelong member of Disciples of Christ Church and holder of a Masters of Divinity, Anita's faith was unwavering and inspiring to all who knew her. She found solace and strength in her faith, guiding her through life's ups and downs with grace and resilience.

Anita's interests were varied and reflected her vibrant spirit - she was a member of the Renovaré spiritual group, enjoyed exploring the realms of science fiction media, cherished travel adventures, creating scrapbooking pages, and found joy in the pages of a good book.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents, Etta "Shug" Cleeton and John Cleeton, and her beloved husband, DeWayne Greening. She is survived by her loving sons, Brendan Greening and Kyle Greening, along with their wives Lauren Greening and Abby Whitney.

A celebration of Anita's life will be held at Hillcrest Christian Church (11411 S Quivira Rd, Overland Park KS 66210) on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00am, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Anita's name to a charity supporting unhoused families or pets.

Anita Greening's legacy of faith, love, and compassion will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were touched by her presence. May her spirit continue to inspire us to live with kindness and empathy towards all.
