Amanda Marie
Bingham
Sep 20, 1974 — Jun 30, 2026
Amanda Marie Bingham, the beloved daughter of James and Betty Jean Bingham and
sister of Nathan, died on June 30, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was 51 years old. She is survived by her father, her brother, and her sister-in-law
Michele Agosti, her niece Taylor Bingham, and her stepmother Julie Laitin.
Amanda had a happy childhood and early adulthood before she faced the challenges of
mental illness. Despite those challenges, she led a productive life that included work in
insurance, various call centers, assisting applicants for Medicaid, and authorship of a
novel. She was an ardent advocate for human rights, women’s rights, and the rights of
the economically disadvantaged. She had an active and creative mind and regularly
shared insights into politics, society and social conditions, and human behavior. She
loved cooking and food and continually created new and interesting dishes.
She died as a result of several chronic health conditions which she faced bravely. She
spent her last days in the hospital surrounded by family and friends who loved her. All
will miss her sweet temperament, her empathy, her probing intellect, and her kindness
to everyone she encountered.
