Matilda “Tillie” Esquivel


Tillie Esquivel of Shawnee, Kansas went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2011. She was born October 8, 1929 in Dawson, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, 3 brothers and her son, Bryan Edwards. Blessed enough to live out Tillie’s memory are daughter Alvina and husband, Bruce Young, grandchildren, Aleceia, Chris, Josh, Amy, Sarah, and Kelsey; great-grandchildren Alyssa, Joseph, Breaunna, Armani, Dayton, Lincoln, Lennox, Taylor, Mercedes, and Maddox and great-great-grandchildren Kayden and Lillianna.

“Grama Tillie”, as she was known to everyone, was famous for her tortillas, Spanish rice and salsa. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, October 8 at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman, Shawnee, KS. Contributions are suggested to Advice and Aid Pregnancy Center, Hope Family Fellowship or Cross Points Church.
