Mary Louise (Mockler) Terril
Mary Louise (Mockler) Terril, a long-time resident of Prairie Village, died Monday, October 1, 2018 at Stratford Commons Memory Care Community in Overland Park.
Born June 14, 1940 in Florida, Mary was a 1958 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School. She did in-home daycare for more than 30 years, loving and teaching over 100 children during that time. When she officially retired, the mayor of Prairie Village proclaimed a day in her honor.
Mary never liked to sit still. She was always active- with her church (teaching Sunday school, organizing the prayer chain, or running a clothing pantry), volunteering for organizations like YouthFriends or Meals on Wheels, doing sewing or craft projects, or helping with her grandsons (who were always perfect angels, according to her).
Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bruce, her son Scott and daughter Heather, and three grandsons- Ryan, Sam, and Grant.
Services for Mary will be Friday, October 5, 2018 at Sylvester Powell Community Center, 6200 Martway, Mission, KS. Services include a visitation from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm and a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial gifts may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City. (https://www.childrensmercy.org/help-our-kids/make-a-gift/)
