Mary L. Magnan
Mary L. Magnan, 83, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014. She was born December 20, 1930 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Mary is survived by her four children, Mickee Madden of Kennewick, Washington, Steven Mathison of Manchester, New Hampshire, Richard Mathison of Taunton, Massachusetts and Gerri Bigler of Overland Park, Kansas, as well as her nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary grew up in Providence, RI. She joined in the U.S. Army at age 19, and was the first WAC photographer in Washington, D.C. In 1975, she moved to the Tri-Cities, Washington area. She retired in 1995 from Ben Franklin Transit, where she had worked 14 years as an administrative assistant. In 2013, she moved to the Kansas City area due to health reasons.
She always possessed a youthful wonder at the beauty of the world around us and loved being outdoors. Her favorite pastimes were working on her acreage, just outside of Benton City, sewing, and trying new recipes from her extensive cookbook collection.
