Mary Elizabeth Carr, 79, of Linn Valley, Kansas passed on Thursday October 22, 2020 in Kansas City, KS. Mary was born on February 7, 1941 to Robert F. and Susie (Inman) Joplin in Kansas City, KS.

 Mary married Bill Carr Sr. on November 7, 1959 in Kansas City, KS.  Mary leaves behind her beloved husband Bill of 61 years of the home, 4 children, daughter, Sherry Johnson (Kevin) Kansas City KS, and sons Bill Jr. (Julie)Shawnee, KS, John Michael (Kelli) Bonner Springs, KS and Gary Kansas City, KS.  She leaves 9 grandchildren, Melissa Hoagland (Dustin), Megan  Johnson, Corey Rose Carr, Brittani Carr (Tyler), Bill Carr III (Ellen), Kailb Carr, Maddie Carr, Luke Carr, Ashton Carr, and 2 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hoagland and Austin Hoagland. She also leaves behind her caregiver Judy Feldman. Mary also leaves behind 2 brothers Roy Joplin, Kansas City, KS, Robert (Bobby) Joplin, Polo MO and 2 sisters, Annie Hines, Cleburne, TX and Betty Champagne, Burlington, KS.

She is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles Joplin, Johnny Joplin and Robert L Joplin.

Mary enjoyed working on Genealogy for 30 years before her stroke in 2009. She never knew a stranger; she always said you need to talk to people to know people.  She worked for Visiting Nurses in the middle and late 1970’s as a hospice bath aid. In 1984 she founded Carr’s Trucking and Overland Grading and ran them until her stroke.

She loved going to the lake, camping and going to garage sales. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grand children and great-grand children.


Due to the current Covid 19 pandemic, the family will be holding a remembrance for Mary at a later date.

The family suggests donations to the KC Hospice, Charcot Marie Tooth Association or a charity of your choice.

    So sorry to hear about Mary , she was one of my old friends from Rosedale . We had a lot of good times together. I have some old pictures of a lot friends with her in them. she helped me find a niece of mine years ago.
