Marvin Sweigart

Marvin R. Sweigart, a resident of Our Father’s Farm near Holden, Mo. passed away July 1, 2017. Prior to that he lived in Saginaw, MI for fifty years. Marvin was born May 25, 1930 near Perryton, TX to Milton and Effie (Kauffman) Sweigart. He married Miriam Swartzendruber on August 20, 1950. They shared almost 67 years of marriage.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Miriam and their children, Randy (Elaine) of Saginaw, MI; Cindy Cooprider (Jim) of McPherson, KS; Tim (Mary Jean) of Hesston, KS; Mary Morrissett of Overland Park, KS; Mark (Katy) of Saginaw Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Marvin was a farmer for 10 years in Oklahoma and Iowa before moving to Saginaw, MI. He pastored multiple congregations and small groups, along with teaching in the Saginaw Public School System. In 1992, he founded Saginaw Valley Community Church where he pastored for 12 years before retiring.

Marvin will be most remembered not for what he did, but for who he was as a person. For many, he exemplified the Father’s heart of love. He had an incredible faith in the Lord and was very faithful to His Lord. In addition to Marvin’s love for preaching and teaching, he enjoyed gardening, home improvements, working on cars, and planning annual camping trips for his family.

To know Marvin was to love him. That love and affection will cause countless family members and friends to greatly miss him, but his influence and testimony will live on forever.

A celebration of his life will be held on Our Father’s Farm, Holden, MO on July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harvest Home, Peace Garden Project, 1177 NW 300th Road, Holden, MO 64040.
