Marjorie B. (Willett) Houpt
Marjorie B. (Willett) Houpt, 96 of Kansas City, MO passed away at Kingswood Health Center on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Marjorie was born June 21, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Kansas City where she graduated from Paseo High School and attended two years of junior college. During World War II she served in the Civil Service Department of the Air Force. For most of her career she was as a paralegal for the law firm of Reeder, Griffin, Dysart & Taylor until she retired at age 72. She was a member of Mensa, the Women’s Chamber, and the Pilot Club, a service organization. Her volunteer work included KC Zoo Docent, St. Joseph’s Hospital and MOCSA (Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault). She loved to read, travel, and listen to music.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert B. Willett and Bernice Willett. She is survived by brother, Robert Willett(Carol); her four children, Denise Fletcher (MIck), Nancy Eberhart (Monty), Susan Lawson (Ron) and James Houpt; eight grandchildren, Aubrey Deegan (Evan), Nicholas Davis, Jennifer Langley (Chris), Todd Eberhart (Laura), Abigail Lawson, Andy Lawson, Chad Eberhart, and Christie Fletcher; ten great- grandchildren, Alexis, David, Eyan, and Isabella Appleman, Tristan, Taden, Tanner, and Londyn Lawson; Kennedy and Anderson Deegan.
The family will hold a private “Celebration of Life”, and in lieu of flowers would appreciate a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in Marjorie’s name.
