She was born February 10, 1948 in Valparaiso, Indiana, daughter of Walter and Maurine Barnett. Marian received her training as an X-Ray technician in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and worked various jobs until moving to Denver in 1969.

Upon renewing her license as an X-Ray technician, she worked in the medical clinic at Gates Rubber Company in Denver for nearly 10 years. She retired in 1999 and moved to La Junta, Colorado to be near her son, John and his family. In 2001 she moved to South Bend to live near her sister and extended family and to enjoy her retirement. While living in South Bend, Marian was diagnosed with CLL, a form of Leukemia. She continued to live on her own until May, 2011 when she moved to Shawnee, Kansas to live with her son, Robert and his family. During her final weeks, Marian was loved and cared for by Catholic Community Hospice.

A memorial service is being planned for later this summer in Valparaiso, Indiana with her final resting place in the mountains of Colorado.

Marian is survived by her sons and their families: Robert and Dawn Brindle and daughters, Caroline and Olivia of Shawnee, Kansas; John and Rebecca Brindle and children, Jack and Annelise of Denver, Colorado; her sister, Barbara Budgett of South Bend, Indiana and many cousins. She is also survived by her dear cat, Gracie.

I wish I had known her. I know her son Robert and he is a fine man and colleague. I’m very sure she had something to do with that! My sympathy to the family of this kind woman.

I was so sad to hear of Marian’s passing. When I last saw her several months ago, she was looking and feeling very well. She will be very missed.
