Madalene Morgan Olander Woodbury, 81, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 22, 2016, at St. Luke’s South.

Madalene attended Border Star grade school and then Sunset Hill School graduating in 1953. While Madalene was attending Bennington College, Bennington, Vermont, she met her Sweetie, Tom. Madalene was in the 1954 Jewel Ball and a 1957 BOTAR. She was a member of the Junior League of Kansas City and their Children’s Theater, Grandview Troupettes and Saint Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a life member of the Kansas City Rose Society.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Tom; son, Tom O. (May), Saudi Arabia; daughter, Carol Ann Raridon (William), Kansas City, MO; daughter, Betsy Cline (Rick), Prairie Village, KS; grandchildren Nicole and Stephanie Gavin, Michelle Woodbury, and Alex Raridon; great-granddaughter Rian Gavin; brother-in-law John Woodbury, Costa Mesa, CA; nieces and nephew Susan Olander, Morgan Olander and Marian Tutera; many relatives and very dear friends near and far.

Madalene loved to do many things. She had a love of reading and usually had several books going at the same time. Her favorite activities were needlepoint, doing puzzles, watching sports especially the Kansas City teams, collecting (or being given) hippos and rubber duckies, and travelling the USA and world with her Sweetie.

Her wish was to be cremated by the Cremation Center of Kansas City, with a private graveside service later at Mount Washington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, any remembrances can be given in her honor to Elmwood Cemetery, Kansas City, MO; The Wornall/Majors House Museums, Kansas City, MO; The Kansas City Rose Society, Kansas City, MO; or to any charity of your choice.
