Leeann Glynette Pratt

Leeann purple dress.

Leeann Glynette Pratt, 56, passed into God’s nearer presence February 1, 2021, with some of her beloved family by her side at Kansas City Hospice House.  Leeann had been at Hospice House for two weeks following 3 weeks of hospitalizations, which was the culmination of a lifelong battle with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy.  She fought to the end, never complaining.  She always kept her spirits high.

Leeann was born in Columbia, Missouri, on July 24, 1964.  She lived in Columbia, Jefferson City, and Kansas City, MO; Olathe and Overland Park, KS.

Leeann attended South City View Elementary School, St. Thomas More Middle School, St. Teresa’s High School, and graduated from Lutheran High School of Kansas City.  She earned an Associate’s Degree from Longview Community College.

Leeann was a devoted Christian with a beautiful faith.

A strong work ethic was a part of Leeann’s character.  She was employed at Quest Diagnostic for more than 15 years until her disability made it impossible for her to continue with the job she loved.

Spending time in the Estes Park area of Colorado was a love for Leeann.  She worked at the YMCA of the Rockies for two summers and spent family vacation time there for close to 15 years.

An avid sports fan would describe Leeann.  She loved “her” Chiefs, Mizzou football, Royals baseball, University of Michigan football, and followed many other teams.  She could discuss football with anyone since she really understood the game.

Overland Park Place Independent Living was home for Leeann the last 8 years of her life.  She was known and loved there for her cheerful outlook, resilience, and joy in participating in all activities. especially Bingo.

Leeann is deeply loved by her large blended families who will miss her beautiful smile and positive outlook on life.

This lovely remembrance of Leeann tugs at the hearts of all of us parents. She was a lovely lady, and her accomplishments in spite of her medical diagnosis are inspiring.

Thank you for this obituary, Glenda. Even though I didn’t know her personally, I feel like I did because of that. Having lost my son in October, I can say, we parents are supposed to go first. Sending love and hugs to you and your family.
