Lawrence C. McDonald, Sr.
Reverend Lawrence C. McDonald, Sr. returned to his Heavenly Father on July 31, 2010. Visitation will be held at Vista Baptist Church at 901 N. Parker Street, Olathe, KS on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 6 – 8 pm. Services will be held at 11 am Thursday at the church. He will be laid to rest at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 112th & Metcalf following the service. Rev. McDonald was born October 30, 1922 to Lawrence and Marjorie McDonald in Kansas City, MO. He served in the 33rd Photo RCN Squadron in the Army Air Corps during WWII and he was proud of his service. He worked as a Technical Writer at the Bendix Corporation, assisting with the Apollo Spacecraft Program. He also enjoyed ministering at a local prison in the 1970’s. Rev. McDonald loved studying the Bible and visiting with his many friends. He did not know a stranger. He loved talking about politics and world events. He was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 55 years and sons John and James. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Marjorie McDonald and his sister, Allene McDonald. He is survived by his three daughters and two sons; Lee and Gary Donnici, Kansas City, Peggy and Larry Gilliland, Raytown, Dawn Calvillo, Olathe, Lawrence C. and Deb McDonald, Raytown and Timothy McDonald of Olathe. He was a proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
