Laura Rigsby Daniel

Laura Rigsby Daniel, 65, passed away December 31st, 2012 at her home in Leawood, Kansas. In her final hours she was surrounded by the family she loved as they shared scripture, sang hymns and read aloud her favorite childhood book, Little House on the Prairie. Outside her window a soft, peaceful snow was falling.

Laura was born to Clayton and Bernadine Hunt in St. Louis, Missouri in 1947. Laura is survived by her husband Dale Daniel, brother Clayton Hunt of Dallas, TX, daughter Teresa Sneed of Duncan, OK, son Travis Daniel of Overland Park, KS, and two grandchildren Gwyneth and Garrett Sneed of Duncan, OK.

Laura was a faithful wife of 41 years, a devoted mother, and a joyful grandmother. She loved a brisk walk in the morning and evening with her dog Watson. She enjoyed traveling, reading a good book in her favorite chair and most of all, spending time with her family. She fought breast cancer for 15 years without a single complaint. Laura’s quiet, steadfast love and servant heart will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service and visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in the Wesley Covenant Chapel (13720 Roe Ave. Leawood, KS). Visitation will be held at 10:00am on January 3rd, 2013 and the memorial service will follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of the Resurrection Backpack Ministry. Laura spent her retirement years volunteering with this ministry to provide weekend meals for grade school kids in need. Checks can be made out to the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection with “Backpack Ministry” in the memo line.

I was blessed to have known Laura Rigsby Daniel. While working at Bendix, I met Dale first as I was working in Word Processing typing for the ES&H dept. I met Laura a few years later when she returned to work and we were both working in the Accounting dept. You are a beautiful family. God Bless you. I will be praying for you as even though we know where we are going we still miss our loved ones greatly.

I was shocked to hear of Rigsby’s death. I can’t believe you lived so close and we had just lost touch. You even go to my church, but it’s so big I guess we just never ran into each other. I’m so sorry Dale. I’m glad you have your kids and grandkids to be a comfort. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
