Larry Lewis Purdy

Larry Lewis Purdy, 72, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the home of his daughter, Heather Purdy in Shawnee, Kansas. It was Larry’s request that there would be no services.

Larry was a truck driver for most of his working life, working the past several years for Pleasant Acres, of Larned, Kansas. He was particularly proud of his record of over a million miles driven without an accident. Due to his health, Larry retired in May of this year, and moved to Shawnee to be close to his family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lynne Harris. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Purdy and her husband, Pat Banman, a son, Shannon Purdy and his wife Shelly and their two children, Ethan and Elaina Purdy, of Parkville, Missouri, a brother Bruce and his wife Connie of Taylorsville, Kentucky and nephews Chase, Luke and Abraham Purdy, also from Taylorsville, niece Livia Purdy of Taylorsville, and a nephew Troy Wiek and niece Jody McKim, both from Florida.

Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy at the passing of your loved one, Larry. Words cannot take away the pain of your loss but prayerfully may God grant you the peace and strength to help you through these saddest of times. I haven’t seen Larry since I lived in Hoisington, Kansas in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. I knew Larry, his sister, Lynne(she was a junior and I was a senior) and younger brother, Bruce, their Mother, Virgina, and Grandmother, Marie. I have often thought of Larry and his family and wondered where they was at and how they were doing. May God’s blessings shower upon you and your family at these saddest of times. Ray Beams
