Joseph Michael Fabery

Joseph Michael Fabery, 87, of Raytown, MO passed away Thursday, April 29th peacefully from esophageal cancer at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Crabtree, PA to Steve and Hilda Fabery, one of eight children.  Upon completion of high school he worked in the coal mines with his father and brothers.

Joe served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army stationed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where he met Laurette Archambault and married in 1944.

Joe and Laurette later moved from PA to Niagara Falls where he worked for DuPont, taking an early retirement as an Electrical Systems Foreman in 1983 and moving to Kansas City, MO.

Joe had a great love for traveling and he and Laurette and dog in tow traveled in their RV to many parts of the country – Yuma, AZ and their friends there was a yearly favorite. He loved to work with his hands and kept busy; and there was nothing he could not build or repair.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Kansas City Hospice, 12000 Wornall Rd. Kansas City, MO 64145, or your local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Surviving are his children Paulette M. Surface (Hal) of Mission Hills, KS and Doreen L. Juszkiewicz (John) of Buffalo, NY. He was preceded in death by his son Gary M. Fabery of Syracuse, NY.

He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Michael J. Fabery (Truc) of Syracuse, NY; Tara M. Rowland (John) of Leawood, KS and Joseph G. Juszkiewick of Buffalo, NY., Dorothy Cunningham, sister, of Waynesburg, PA, Helen Vavrinec, sister, of Ramsey, NJ and Rhoda Fabery, daughter-in-law, of Syracuse, NY as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration will take place in Kansas City. A Christian burial and his final resting place will be held in Carmichaels, PA.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Research Hospital and Kansas City Hospice who went above and beyond to help Joe and his family.
