John Harvey Isaacks

John Harvey Isaacks, 81, of Lawrence, Kansas passed away on September 28, 2021. He was born January 30, 1940 in Independence, Missouri, the son of Richard and Marion Patricia (Morrow) Isaacks. He graduated from White Bear Lake, Minnesota High School in 1959 and from Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa in 1974.

Between high school and college John joined the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged April 2, 1963. As a Marine, Corporal Isaacks served with the 1st Marine Division 5th Marine Regiment as an AntiTank Assaultman.

John married Donna June (Atwood) December 26, 1973. He will be remembered as a loving husband and selfless father. John spent a lot of time outdoors. He was an adventurous hiker, camper, and family man. John spent many years working in the oil fields in Texas. Later he was maintenance supervisor at Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs. He also spent 20 years as Camp Caretaker at Camp Romoca in Palmer Lake, CO and at Camp Chihowa in Perry, Kansas. After retirement, John became an active babysitter for his sprawling grandchildren.

Preceding John in death were his parents and his sisters-in-law, Rosalie (Atwood) Gardner and Judy Hicks.

Surviving is his wife Donna, daughters Christian (fiancé Steven Craig) Brown, Amanda (Darrick) Doleman, and Megan (Treaver) Wecker and son, David (Valerie) Isaacks; grandchildren Trinidy Thompson, Madison Isaacks, Tabor Brown, Olivia Isaacks, Kaden Doleman, Kadynce Thompson, Ella Isaacks, Kenyon Doleman, Marley Doleman, Treegan Wecker, Azlynn Isaacks, Piper Wecker, Knox Wecker and two bonus grandchildren Danica and Daxton Craig.

Also surviving are two sisters Marion (Sheldon) Larsen and Carole (Andi) Isaacks, sister-in-law Louise (Jerry) Todd, brothers-in-law Frederick Atwood, Jack Gardner, Manuel Atwood, and David (Marci) Atwood.

Also surviving are several beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

    Always enjoyed John’s sense of humor, his constant love of family and his well read knowledge of scripture, fortressing his religious beliefs. Do the right thing seemed to be a motto.
    Enjoy the mountains and peaceful valleys of heaven, John.

    fall into grace
    you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith
    no reason to wait
    nothing is every final when the Father is in the room
    his big big house has many seats at the table
