Jason “Jay” C. Lasiter


Jason “Jay” C. Lasiter, 34, passed away at North Kansas City Hospital on December 5, 2011.

Jay was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 21, 1977. He attended Hocker Grover Middle School and Shawnee Mission North High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. Jay was an avid sports fan and enjoyed being #1 at video games. His passion was cooking and entertaining.

Jay’s biggest achievement was his children, Jaryn, 13, and Ethan, 12. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and his friends. Jay lived his life through his music loud and large.

Jay is survived by his children Jaryn and Ethan. He is also survived by his mother, Becky Smith; his father, Randy Lasiter of Richmond, Missouri; sister and brother-in-law Toni and Mike Kane; brother Dustin Lasiter; grandmother, Flossie Meyer; two nieces, two nephews and one great niece. Jay is leaving a lot of extended family and cherished friends (his “brothers”) behind.

A service in Jay’s honor will be on Friday, December 9 at 4:00 pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Overland Park, Kansas. An extended celebration of Jay’s life will be held after the service, details will be available at the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an education fund set up for his children. Bank details will be added at a later day but donations can be made to the family.

    Jason had a smile and laugh that could light up a room. I will always remember the fun nights that we shared, and how he could always make me laugh. I have alot of good memories of him and will cherish those. May he be in peace now. My deepest sympathies to his family.

    i new jason since 1992. im proud to say he was my friend he new me better the anyone. im not gonna say he’s in a better place but atleast he’s not in pain anymore he’s at rest. ill always remember him as my brother and will allways love him. ill remember how big his heart was and how much love he had for his friends and family no mater how bad his life was. I MISS HIM.

    I am so sorry to hear about Jay! I still can’t believe it. I pray that he has found peace and that you find comfort in the wonderful memories of the love and laughter that surrounded Jason where ever he was. What an amazing smile and heart he had…he will be missed dearly! You are in my thoughts and my prayers during this heartbreaking time.
