Jacquelyn “Jackie” Marie Baker
Jacquelyn “Jackie” Marie Baker passed away the evening of February 15th at her home in Overland Park, KS.
Jackie was born on June 30th,1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was married to Dr. Keith Baker in August of 1957 and they graduated together from Ottawa University in 1958.
Jackie fulfilled her love of giving back by volunteering at her church, First Baptist Church, which led to her career as a preschool teacher. Jackie spearheaded the “VIP” program at the church to ensure the senior parishioners had rides to services and organized activities.
After retiring from teaching, she spent her time doing what she loved most, raising grandkids. Jackie loved to travel and in 2015 she made it to Alabama to fulfill her dream of seeing all 50 states. Jackie was also known for her love of boxer dogs, cooking, and gardening.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by son Carl, his wife Dana, son Kent, son Clifton; his wife Judy; grandsons Dan and, Mitchell, and granddaughters Brette and Jessica.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Overland Park on Thursday, February 25th; visitation hours will be 6-7 pm and a Celebration of Life service will begin at 7 pm.
