Howard W. Allegar, IV

Howard W. Allegar, IV, 61, passed away at his Overland Park home on August 20, 2013.

Howard was born October 2, 1951 in Plainfield, NJ to the late Howard W. Allegar, III and Mary Allegar.  Howard grew up swimming competitively and pursuing his affinity for all things US History and government.  He attended The University of West Virginia where he received both Bachelor and Master’s degrees.  Living in the Kansas City Metro he was active in his church, sat on a local charter school board and was an independent business man. Howard was passionate about helping local small businesses succeed. He would often share what the Lord was teaching him and truly wanted to help others.

Howard cared about his family deeply and is survived by his mother Mary (Houston, TX), brother Bruce and family (Houston, TX), son John (Indianapolis, IN), wife Liz (Overland Park, KS), step children Kathryn and husband Matthew (Shawnee, KS) and Andrew (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and granddaughters Evelyn and Adeline.

A Memorial Service to honor Howard’s life will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday August 28, 2013 at Christ Church Anglican 5500 W 91st Street Overland Park, KS.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Howard W. Allegar Memorial Fund, Capitol Federal Savings 10101 College Blvd Overland Park, KS 66210 or Whitefield Academy 8929 Holmes Road Kansas City, KS 64131.

We give thanks for Howard’s faith and his always positive nature, knowing that he is in a place now that is wonderful beyond our imagining.     Sorry to hear about Howard, I worked at Turner School district with him and he was always a very nice and kind man. Prayers to the family at this difficult time.
