Donald W. Cochran


Donald “Don” W. Cochran, Sr., 73, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away December 22, 2012 at his residence after a short illness. Don was lovingly cared for during his illness by Hospice Services of Olathe Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Olathe and was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edith Cochran and brother, Ronald N. Cochran. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion and had been a member of DeMolay in his younger years. He was an avid fisherman who taught all of his children and grandchildren to fish. Don began his career with Hyer Boot Company and then Olathe Boot Company. The balance of his career was in the maintenance department for the Olathe YMCA from which he retired. Don is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy; son, Donald W. (Clara) Cochran Jr. of Tonganoxie, KS.; daughters, Mary Cochran of Tonganoxie, Amy (Craig) Miller of Sarasota, FL., Mindy Cochran of Tampa, FL.; brother, Ralph (Linda) Cochran of Merriam, KS., 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on December 30, 2012 at 1:30pm (visitation from 1pm – 4 p.m.) at the American Legion Post #153, 410 East Dennis Ave., Olathe, KS 66061. Contributions may be made to Hospice Services of Olathe Medical Center, 20333 W. 151 St. #2-301, Olathe, KS  66061, or to American Legion Post 153.

    Don was a very good man. My prayers are with him and all of his loved ones. My memories of him as a friend and a boss will stay with me forever. God Bless All.
