Danny Joe Bittiker
Born February 11, 1953 in Wathena, Kansas to Lemen Bittiker and Anna (Stiles) Bittiker, Danny attended Wathena Public Schools graduating from Wathena High School in 1971. After high school, Dan served for Wathena 2 ½ years in the U. S. Air Force.
In 1992, he married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Ainlay and is survived at the home.
Danny is survived by: son: Danny (Mikaela) Bittiker. Daughters: Charity Bittiker, Sarah (Brad) English. Step-Daughters: Carrie (Chad Reber) Lofton and Brandee (Tim) Blevins-Flowers. Sisters: Sherye (Tom) Gibson, and Karen Eberhardt. Brothers: Gary (Lee) Bittiker, Larry (Sheila) Bittiker, and Ken (Joanne) Bittiker and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lemen and Anna and brothers, Lloyd Dean and Wesley Bittiker.
Danny worked for over 40 years as a carpenter and home builder, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and trips to the lake with friends. He especially enjoyed building and flying large-scale radio-controlled aircraft. He was an avid hunter of morel mushrooms and enjoyed playing with his beloved feline pets, Sissy and Callie.
A celebration of Danny’s life will be held on May 29, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at the Remington Nature Center of St. Joseph, Missouri, 1502 MacArthur Drive, St. Joseph, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Kansas City, KS or the Remington Nature Center of St. Joseph.
