Cllfford Jerome “Jerry” Wingerter, Jr.

in-loving-memory

Life long Kansas City area resident, Clifford Jerome Wingerter, Jr. (Jerry), 66, died June 10, 2011 at his home in Merriam, Kansas. At his request, no services will be held.

Jerry was born July 29, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Clifford and Elizabeth Wingerter. Jerry was a lifelong railroad enthusiast, having been exposed to steam engines as a little boy by his grandfather who worked as an agent for the Midland Valley Railroad in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. Spending summers with his grandparents were some of his fondest childhood memories. His love of trains continued late into life by collecting memorabilia and enjoying steam excursions with his wife, Nancy.

Jerry married Nancy Lee Kuheim on June 6, 1963. They had two boys, Robert E. and Kenneth Scott.

Jerry spent the last 43 years in Merriam, Kansas raising a family and running a small business. Jerry co-founded Quality Radiator with Rick Carter in 1976. In 1992, Jerry became the sole owner, operating the business until 1999 when health problems forced him to close the business.

Jerry is survived by his bride of 48 years, Nancy; sons Robert and wife Linda and Kenneth Scott and wife, Gloria; 6 grandchildren, Karl, Jeremy, Nick, Amber, Seth amd Justin; 3 great-grandchildren, Gage, Tucker and Cami, his brother Kenny and wife Karen and 2 nieces, Sheri and Emily.

Thank you to HospiceCare of Kansas for helping our family in ways we can never repay.
