Clifford Daniel May
Clifford Daniel May was born January 23, 1937, to Sherman Edward & Verna Lee May. He was the 4th of 5 children. Our Heavenly Father saw fit to call Cliff’s name into eternal rest, August 20, 2019, while surrounded by loved ones.
Clifford was born in Clinton County, MO, and grew up in Plattsburg, MO, where he attended public schools. Many years later met his wife, Christine (Berry) May, and married in 1996. He worked as a cook for many years , for various restaurants, schools, & hotels. He retired from the Leavenworth Co. Infirmary in 2002. After retirement, he worked and volunteered his services to Lil’ Berry’s Child Care Center, and Apostolic Deliverance Tabernacle, where he was also a member. There, he accepted Christ, was baptized in Jesus Name, filled with the Holy Ghost, and answered his call as Deacon, under the Pastorship of Dist. Elder Joyce Gayden, Sr. Pastor.
Deacon May enjoyed cooking & grilling for his family and friends, and did it as much as he could. Deacon May also, along with his wife, was a Foster Parent until his death. He was known as “Papa” to the children he fostered, as well as nieces and nephews, and daycare children alike. And he was also known to many others as…”Deacon”!
Deacon May leaves to cherish his legacy, his loving and devoted wife, Christine May; 5 daughters, Alicia (Tony) Stone, Kim Watkins, Melissa May, Kimberly Sutgrey, and Cherise Berry; 3 sons, Floyd (Shelly) Draper, Ricky(Donna) Draper, Cletia (Giovonna) Draper; 1 sister, Margaret May; grandchildren, great-grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Sherman and Verna May; brothers Roy May, Eldon May, an infant brother, and son, Clifford Draper.
Deacon Clifford D. May will be missed by many. May the memories of him comfort all who knew and loved him.
