Claude Emmert Light
Claude Emmert Light, 76, of Paola, Kansas, passed away November 15, 2016 at Villa St. Francis after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Kathleen (Spears) Light, his daughter Shannon Barbour and her husband Kevin Barbour; his son Michael Light and his wife Brandi Light; and his daughter Shalaine Blazic and her husband Adam Blazic. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren: Steffani, Nicholas, Mikaila, Madeline, Kalei, Adam, Chloe, Charles, Eli, Gabriella, Olivia and Elvin and 1 great grandchild, Kingston. Claude was preceded in death by his son Charles Light; his parents Claude and Faye (Traul) Light; and five siblings.
He was born in Fontana, KS on December 17, 1939, to Claude and Faye Light. Claude went to high school in Parker, KS and then served six years in the US Air Force from 1956-1962. Shortly after he met Kathy, they married in 1964 and had four children. Claude was a 3rd generation plasterer always willing to try new things with an adventurous heart. He had an infectious love for life, a great love for books and an even greater love for his family.
His favorite author, Elbert Hubbard, may have said it best. “Men are only as great as they are kind.” Dad…you are the greatest man we know. You will be missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 3pm at Living Proof Church, 32401 Harmony Road, Paola, KS 66071. A Celebration of Claude’s life will begin at 4pm.
