Catherine A. “Kitty” McCormick


Catherine A. “Kitty” McCormick, 85, of Olathe, Kansas, died January 23, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Center under the care of Kansas City Hospice.
She was born September 7, 1925, in Jenkintown, PA, daughter of Joseph P. McKeon and Elizabeth Bridget Hunt McKeon. Catherine married John A. McCormick in 1949. She worked for many years at Johnson County Community College as an Administrative Office Assistant. Kitty was active with her church friends, a local Red Hat Society group and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed shopping with friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, antiquing and spoiling her prized grandchildren. Kitty was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching Jeopardy.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson, Martin Shane McCormick, her twin sister, Elizabeth O’Malley, her brother, James McKeon and her sister Ann McBride. She is survived by three sons; Dennis (Teresa), Kansas City, MO, Martin (Karen), Vail, AZ and John (Marilyn), Shawnee, KS, two grandchildren, Timothy and Abigail McCormick, three brothers, Joseph, John, and Thomas McKeon, two sisters, Patricia Pakech and Theresa DiEgidio and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends at 9:00 am, Thursday, January 27, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Olathe, prior to the Memorial Mass at 10:00 am. A private family interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO will follow Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Johnson County Meals on Wheels where she volunteered, 913-715-8892.
