Beverly Ann Wilson passed away peacefully on August 27th at Park Meadows in Overland Park, Kansas after battling failing health for many months.

Beverly was born on November 23, 1934, to Harvey Vail and Iola Leinenweaver in Sigourney, Iowa and she graduated from Thornburg High School in 1952.  After high school, Beverly trained at the Gail Institute and was employed by Wisconsin Airlines in Madison, WI, and Minneapolis, MN.  On May 10, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart Burris G. Wilson.  While Burris was deployed with the Air Force to Korea, Beverly worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA.  After Burris returned from Korea, he and Beverly were stationed at Warner Robins AFB in Georgia where Beverly worked as a civil servant.

In 1957 Beverly and Burris moved to Overland Park, Kansas.  Beverly soon applied her piano-playing talent to serve as organist for the newly formed Valley View United Methodist Church.   After spending many years in Overland Park raising three children, they retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1994.  There Beverly enjoyed many creative interests such as quilt making, cross-stitching, crocheting, dulcimer playing, and bird watching.  She worked as a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association, was an avid reader of westerns and mystery novels, and a devoted fan of college sports teams, particularly the Arkansas Razorbacks.  In 2019 Beverly and Burris returned to Overland Park to be closer to family.

Beverly leaves behind Burris her husband of 68 years, children Wendy (Greg) Abbott of Broken Arrow, OK, David (Michele) Wilson of Shawnee, KS, and Tricia (Lawson) Rener of Leawood, KS, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother Max Vail of Des Moines, IA.

A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date at Bella Vista, AR.

    Burris,
We remember BEVERLY for different reasons–a great laugh, a unique perspective, a story shared.
But mostly, we remember a life well-lived and honor a person well-loved.
Hoping your memories bring you comfort in your time of loss, and that it lifts your heart to know others share your sadness.

    Love, Darrell & Linda

Thanks Darrell and Linda for the kind words. Yes she was always happy and she enjoyed life. We had 68 plus years together and that is comforting. I do indeed miss her and know we will be together again in the future. Thanks again we always treated you two as one of the family. Love Burris

Burris – You and Bev were among Bert and my first friends when we all moved next door in 1955 and remained “best friends” still to this day. We shared so many Thanksgivings together with our young families and those remain some of my favorite memories. Our families bonded and we were instantly family. It’s hard to imagine life without Bev and Bert, but they have both gone on home before us and am confident they are waiting until the day we will all be together again. Bev loved the Lord, family and friends and the absence of her presence will be missed by all. May God bless you, Burris and family, in His special way. Psalms 116:15

Burris, We send our heart felt condolences to you and your family. We always enjoyed our times together with you and Bev. When M.L. and I first moved to Bella Vista and you introduced us to Bev, she introduced me to Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) in 2003. I have been so grateful for that and am still attending BSF today. Our thoughts and prayers are for God to bring you, your children and grandchildren peace and comfort at this difficult time.
    We send our love,
