Alex A. Estevez

Alex A. Estevez, 86, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully January 31, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

He was born September 3, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Richard and Margaret Estevez. Alex served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Rudolph V. Estevez and a sister, Martha Estevez. Alex is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children; Lita and Michael Hinton, Seaside, California, Helen and Andrew Campbell, Lee’s Summit, MO, Vincent and Jeannie Estevez, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Katherine and Gary Hazeltine, Shawnee, Kansas, Sharon and Chris Burns, Mission, Kansas, Greg Estevez, Lexington, Missouri, Martha Estevez and Mark Estevex, both of Lenexa, Kansas,  Carlos Estevez and Alejandro Estevez, both of Mexico, Rose Estevez, Independence, Missouri and Dawn and Richard Holler, Independence; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four brothers Richard Estevez, Jr. (Jeanne), David Estevez (Goldie), Armand Estevez (Helen) and Charles Estevez (Socorro) and two sisters, Rose Espinosa and Hellen Barnes.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11am, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Leavenworth National Cemetery. A memorial gathering will follow the service at VFW Post 846, 8804 Grant Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.

    Katherine, Your Dad would be proud of your days of being at his bedside as he wished. Now he is free of pain and with the lord. I hope you know what you did for him was wonderful. My prayers for you and your family.
