Joseph “Joe” Pavlovich


Joseph “Joe” Pavlovich, Sr., 67,  of Kansas City, Kansas passed away July 24, 2016 with his loving family by his side. His Celebration of Life will be Thursday, July 28 from 9-11 am at the Athens room at the Argosy Hotel. Arrangements made by Cremation Center of Kansas City 913-384-5566.

Joe was born October 21, 1948 in Mrzljaki, Croatia. In 1960 he and his family immigrated to the United States calling Kansas City their new home. He was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School and attended Central Missouri State University. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors after 37 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 31.

Joe was a loving Husband, Dad , Tata, Coach, “Big Joe”, and friend to everyone. Joe loved the outdoors. When the kids were younger, Joe spent many summers camping with his family and friends at Pomona Lake. He also enjoyed coaching their soccer and baseball.

He was very proud of his Croatian heritage and was active in the Croatian community.

After retirement he devoted his time to his kids and 4 grandkids, playing countless games of backyard wiffleball and attending numerous activities for his grandkids. Joe enjoyed cheering for the Chiefs and the Royals. He also didn’t choose sides so he rooted for both the Wildcats and the Jayhawks.

Joe didn’t know a stranger, greeting everyone with his signature smile. He will be remembered for his grit, feistiness, kindness, and sense of humor.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Pavlovich, and brother, Mike.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shirley Pavlovich; son, Joe Pavlovich Jr. (Meg); daughter, Glori Carson (Matt); grandsons Jake & Luke Pavlovich, Connor Carson; and granddaughter, Cailin Carson.

He also leaves behind loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and his Croatian family.

    Shirley, So sorry for your loss. Joe and his family were always so good to all of our family. I can’t look at their old home without calling it the Pavlovich residence!! May he rest in peace.
