Virginia Frost Ruhl
Virginia Frost Ruhl, 88, of Overland Park, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Brookdale of Overland Park.
Mrs. Ruhl was born in Denver, Colo., to Arl Haskett “Jack” Frost and the former Florence Temple on Sept. 26, 1928. She attended public schools and graduated from Denver High School in 1946. She attended Denver University and the University of Kansas, graduating in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She worked at the League of Women Voters in Topeka, Kan., and later for the Shawnee Mission Public Schools until her retirement. She married Donald Ruhl in 1950.
She was a member of Shawnee Presbyterian Church, Sigma Kappa sorority and the University of Kansas Alumni Association. She was a loyal fan of the university’s football and basketball teams.
Mrs. Ruhl is survived by a son, John Ruhl (Lynne) of Overland Park; two daughters, Constance Ruhl, of Bethesda, Md., and Catherine Ruhl (Phillip Blanchard) of Albuquerque, N.M.; a granddaughter, Sarah Ruhl; a grandson, Benjamin Ruhl Blanchard; and two brothers, Robert Frost and Ken Frost of Boulder, Colo.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Shawnee Presbyterian Church, 6837 Neiman Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice Foundation, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, Mo. 64114 or Shawnee Presbyterian Memorial Fund.
