Robert Paul Sakmar of Olathe, Kansas, went to be with his Lord on June 27, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Sakmar and his brother, Francis Sakmar. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carla Sakmar and his grandchildren, Stone and Courtney Sakmar.

Is a casket necessary for cremation?

Can we witness the cremation?
Definitely; it is becoming common practice, and we encourage you to do so. Our crematory was built with a Witness Room so that the initiation of the cremation process could be witnessed whether for religious, peace of mind, or other reasons.

Can I be cremated if I am Catholic?
Prohibited prior to the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Church has permitted cremation as a means of disposition since the mid-1960’s. Both Kansas City area Archdioceses now permit the cremated remains to be taken to the church for the memorial mass. We would be glad to provide you with a copy of the Church’s guidelines for cremation.
