Lynn Ray Depew

Lynn Ray Depew, 85, of Olathe, KS passed away at Villa St. Francis on June 12, 2017. Lynn was born February 6th, 1932 in Greenleaf, KS to the late Fay and Mary Depew.

Lynn graduated from Wamego High School in 1950 and then continued his education at Wichita Business College. Lynn served in the US Navy from 1951 until honorable discharge in 1959. His career was spent in restaurant management.

On March 30, 1951 he married Beth Louise Sackrider in Wamego, KS. They were devoted to each other for 62 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 2, 2014. Beth was the love of his life and they were blessed with two daughters. Lynn’s family was his pride and priority.

Loving survivors are daughter Debbie Birk, son-in-law Dan Birk, Granddaughters Ashley and Courtney Birk all of Gastonia, NC; daughter Julie Green, grandsons Evan and Brett Green all of Olathe, KS; niece Judy Stiers of Jonesville, SC; and many other nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death were his sister Winona Matzke and Son-in-law Kelly Green.

“His wings were ready, but our hearts were not.”

Following cremation there will be a private memorial service in the gardens at All Saints Episcopal Church, Gastonia, NC. Memorials may be made to the church.

    Sorry to hear of the death of Lynn. I recall stories of my dad, Leroy Stewart and Lynn growing up. I also remember Julie at what a year older then me. Praying for your strength at this difficult time.
